About Us

My name is Lorraine Buchan, I live and work in a small North East fishing port called Peterhead where my family have been fishing for generations.

My mum, Helen and I, set up our business working with horses in 2008 and have steadily built up a friendly team offering a range of services to the horse owner from basic first steps to high end competition training and producing.

So where did this all start?

I was riding horses before I could walk which naturally progressed to having lessons at the local riding stables and getting my first pony for my 5th birthday, a beautiful 9.2hh chestnut shetland called Rusty.  As I became more accomplished so my addiction to horses grew and along came a number of fantastic ponies including “Power Steel” and “Name of the Game”, all of which I took up the through the grades in BS and Pony  Club gaining my B test at the tender age of 14.  When I was in my late teens I took up the role of Chief Instructor with the East Aberdeenshire Pony Club

At the age of  21 I travelled to Germany and bought Lhanna, a newly backed 3 year old.  She has proved to be a horse of a lifetime, achieved grade A showjumping status, winning many BS classes along the way and is the only horse to date to have won the Scottish Sports Horse age classes from 4 to 7 year old.  This is judged on conformation, Dressage and Showjumping.  Lhanna and I are still together, although now retired from competition, due to her amazing ability and enviable bloodlines she is now one of my foundation broodmares consistently producing top class, High First Premium foals.

A couple of years after purchasing  Lhanna I returned to Germany to find my next superstar, a stunning steel grey stallion called Lancelot,(whom also won the 5 year old Scottish Showjumping Title) which I produced up to foxhunter level before selling him to Steven Whitaker.

I am now very fortunate to be able to devote all of my time between teaching, producing and breeding, with my mum, Helen  and a small dedicated team working tirelessly  in the background in full support.

I really enjoy working with and producing young horses and consider myself to be a total perfectionist and work extremely hard on the foundations. It is important to me that all of my horses work well in a relaxed way without the need for unnecessary hardware.

I am a UK Level II Equestrian Coach, I am fully Insured, have Safeguarding & Protecting Children,  Disclosure Scotland and hold a current First Aid Certificate.  I am also Pony Club Accredited.
